Laboratory Investigation of Support Mechanism for Thin Spray-on Liners

چکیده
ABSTRACT: Rock support is the basis of any underground mine and many open cut operations. Ground support methods have evolved over the years with the current trend to use bolts, mesh and shotcrete. Thin spray-on liners may be the next step replacing mesh and shotcrete, however being a relatively new product is not well understood and no standard testing procedures exist to determine the strength of the individual products. Many methods of testing have been proposed by different researchers and many different tests have been conducted covering the majority of these methods. Yet little follow up research has been done on these tests and little is known of the repeatability and the results of these tests and whether the tests can be used as standard testing procedures or whether they are unfeasible. A series of tests were undertaken to determine what would be the appropriate testing procedures. The test conducted were a bending test, double sided shear strength and coated core samples. Sandstone samples were used as it is a very uniform rock giving more consistent results. All the tests produced promising results into whether they should be standard testing procedures or not.

Investigation of Effect of Number of Lifters on Performance of Pilot-Scale SAG Mills Using Discrete Element Method
The number of lifters of mill shell liners, mill rotation speed, and filling percentage of grinding media are three of the most important parameters influencing the charge behavior and the trajectory of ball motion inside the SAG mills, and consequently, their performance. In this paper, the milling operation of pilot-scale SAG mills using the discrete element method (DEM) is investigated. Firs...
متن کاملAn Investigation on Effect of Shell Liner Type on Performance of Industrial SAG Mills Using DEM
The shell liner type, rotation speed, and ball filling percent are the key factors influencing the charge behavior inside the SAG mills, and consequently, their performance. In this work, the milling operation of industrial SAG mills is investigated using the Discrete Element Method (DEM). First, an industrial SAG mill with dimensions of 9.50 m × 4.42 m that has a Smooth-type liner is sim...
متن کاملStudies on Structural and Optical Characterization of In-Zn-S Ternary Thin Films Prepared by Spray Pyrolysis
Thin films of indium doped zinc sulfide (ZnS) for different indium (In) concentrations (x=0.0 - 0.8) were deposited onto glass substrate by spray pyrolysis method at 523K temperature. Aqueous solution of zinc acetate, indium chloride and thiorea were used to deposit the In-Zn-S film. The deposited thin films were characterized by Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM)...
متن کاملInvestigation of Influence External Pressures on Vibration of Thin-Walled Cylindrical Shell Supported Composed of Functionally Graded Materials
This paper presents the study on influence external pressures on vibration of functionally graded materials thin-walled cylindrical shell supported. The functionally graded materials (FGMs) properties are graded in the thickness direction of the shell. FGMs are advanced composite materials, consisting of different types of materials, in which the properties shift continuously from one material ...
متن کاملPreparation and growth of SnS thin film deposited by spray pyrolysis technique
In this paper thin films of tin sulfide (SnS) were deposited on the glass substrates using spray pyrolysis method with the substrate temperatures in the range of 400–600℃, keeping the other deposition parameters constant. In this work the characteristic of SnS thin films investigated. The XRD pattern and optical transmittance of thin films also are discussed. With the change in concen...
